Safeguard Program Coverage FAQ

QuestionWhat is the consumer safeguard program? 
ATG has had a great deal of success meeting corporate demand for insurance replacements of wireless devices. We have now expanded our Safeguard program to include both consumers and families.

Question What is the cost? 
The pricing is usually between $4 and $8 per month depending upon device type and contract length.  Please refer to the pricing tab for the exact cost of your device.

QuestionMy devices are new and are covered under the manufacturers warranty. Does it still make sense to enroll these devices in ATG’s Safeguard program?
Yes. The manufacturers warranty only provides replacements for a narrow selection of  warranty related issues. The vast majority of problems that occur during the life of the unit are caused by the user and are not covered by warranties.

Question Do my devices need to be new equipment to be enrolled in the Safeguard program ? Do they need to have been purchased from ATG?
No, our Safeguard program will provide coverage on existing equipment purchased in the last 60 days that is in good working order. You can purchase your devices from any retailer or outlet and ATG will provide coverage on devices not purchased from us. Proof of purchase may be required.  

Question What do I need to participate?                 
Simply sign up on our website.

Question – What happens if I do not have my defective device to return to ATG?
If your device is lost, you will need to submit an affidavit attesting to the loss of the device. If your device is stolen, we will need a copy of the police report.

Question – Is there a limit on the number of claims that I can place?
Yes, you can have up to 1 replacement unit per contract term.

Question – Can you describe how a claim is processed?
The claims process begins when you submit a claim via this web site.  ATG will then advance ship a replacement device to you within 48 hours.  Upon receipt of the replacement device you will need to send back the defective device back to ATG.

Question – What are the payment options and contract term?
Each contract is either for a 1 year or 2 year term with the total payment due at the commencement of service.  There is an option to make monthly payments on your annual contract.  In the event that you elect to make monthly payments on your service agreement – and a claim occurs –we will charge your credit card for the balance due on your annual contract.

Your payment options are to either prepay for the total amount due for your annual service agreement or to make monthly payments on the total amount due.

Question – Is there a waiting period to submit a claim?
Yes. There is a 30 day waiting period after registering your device. Coverage begins on the 31st day of the contract.

Question – How long does it take for a claim to be processed?
Your claim will be processed within 48 hours on business days, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

Question – Are accessories covered?
No, your coverage applies to the device only. You will need to keep all of your old accessories, including the battery.

Question – Will the replacement device be new or refurbished?
They could be either new or refurbished.  New devices are typically issued in the early stages of the lifecycle of a device, at a certain point new devices will no longer be available

Question - How many devices can I insure?
Our consumer program allows for you to insure up to 5 devices per account. You may be able to insure additional devices in certain circumstances.

Question - What type of damage does the Safeguard program cover?
ATG's Safeguard Insurance program covers all types of damage including in and out of warranty malfunction, water damage, screen damage, and loss or theft.

Question - Can I cancel my insurance plan?
Yes, you may cancel the insurance contract only if you haven't filed a claim. Please note that there will be a $25.00 cancelation fee.

Question - What kind of warranty comes with my replacement device?
There is a 60 day warranty on the replacement device.

Question - Does ATG cover any software installed on my phone?
No, ATG does not replace or cover any pre-installed software that may have been installed on your device.
